Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized by her highly commendable performances in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her film Piano earned her an Oscar. She started her career as an actress on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. The art of acting has been a constant obsession. In fifth grade, she played Helen Keller in an original production. The fifth grade was the year that due to mumps, she lost hearing in the left ear. She did not let it stop her from performing. While in college, she took classes in theatre as well as later moving from Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her dreams. Hunter made her Broadway debut following a chance encounter in the company of Beth Henley, a playwright. The two worked together on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. Following her move from Los Angeles she tried to obtain film roles and was offered an acting role as a support in Swing Shift. Holly Hunter has been in several television series, films as well as movies throughout the span of her 30-year career. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
